The Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities hosted a visit by some 80 members of the New York Jewish Federation who were in Israel to celebrate the organization’s centennial.
On May 4, 2017, the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities hosted a visit by about 80 members of the New York Jewish Federation who were in Israel to celebrate the organization’s centennial. The visit was initiated by Elizabeth and Michael Varet.
The Academy’s President, Prof. Nili Cohen, and Prof. Dan Shechtman, Nobel Laureate and Academy member, addressed the group. Professor Cohen emphasized the importance of continuing to develop Israel’s scientific infrastructure, while Prof. Shechtman related his scientific journey and stressed the importance of attracting more young people to study the sciences, so that Israel can maintain its competitive edge.
