The Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities was established to promote science and scholarship in Israel. Anchored by statute in 1961/5721, it is the flagship institution of Israel’s academic community.

The vision of establishing “a gathering place of scholars ״ensued from the recognition that scientific excellence is fundamental to the prosperity of the State of Israel. The Israel Academy, under the leadership of its presidents, brings together Israel’s preeminent scientists and scholars to further the goals of fostering scientific and scholarly activity in Israel, representing Israeli science internationally, and advising the government on issues of national importance relating to science policy and research.

The Academy ׳s gates are open to the public. This exhibition, marking the 60th anniversary of the enactment of The Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities Law, presents the Academy’s story and its contributions to the advancement of science and knowledge. It includes videos, a model of the Academy campus, digital elements, and rare archival material.
