Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei

An Agreement for Scientific Cooperation was signed with the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei in 2000.
 
A series of bilateral scientific workshops began in 2017, when there were two joint workshops in Israel: on “Arabic Language and Islamic Heritage” in May and on “Immuno-pharmacological Therapies for Cancer and Allergic Diseases” in November.
 
In January 2019, a joint multidisciplinary conference on “Science and Society” was convened by the two Academies at the Accademia in Rome. Members of the two academies took part. The conference was led by Prof. Nili Cohen, president of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, and the former president of the Italian Academy, Prof. Alberto Quadrio Curzio. The conference participants were greeted by Italian Foreign Minister Prof. Enzo Moavero Milanesi, and Israel’s Ambassador to Italy, Mr. Ofer Sachs.
 
In January 2019, Italian Foreign Minister Prof. Enzo Moavero Milanesi visited the academy as part of an official state visit. He was joined by Italian Ambassador to Israel Mr. Gianluigi Benedetti and Ambassador Sachs.
Several Italian researchers have visited Israel under the framework of the agreement over the past decades, and Israeli scholars have visited Italy. They include scholars in the fields of ancient history, law, and linguistics.
 
On February 2024, the Italian Ambassador, H.E. Sergio Barbanti, visited the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, accompanied by Prof. Giuseppe Falini, Scientific Attaché at the Embassy of Italy in Tel Aviv. The two met with Academy President Prof. David Harel and Former President of the Israel Academy Prof. Nili Cohen. During the meeting, they discussed academic and scientific relations between Italy and Israel, and the expressed a wish to strengthen collaborations between the Israel Academy and the Italian National Academy of Science - the Lincei. They were later joined by Prof. Margalit Finkelberg, Academy Vice-President, Prof. Sergiu Hart, Chairperson of Humanities Division, Galia Finzi, the Academy’s Director Galia Finzi, and Dr. Neta Peretz, Head of International Relations at the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
