Six new members elected to the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities

Prof. Nili Cohen, President of the Israel Academy, emphasized that their inclusion strengthens the Academy.

In elections held at the annual Closed Meeting of the General Assembly, on June 20, 2017, the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities chose 6 new members, bringing the total number of members to 125.
 
Prof. Eyal Benvenisti, Law, Tel Aviv University
Prof. Yonina Eldar, Electrical Engineering, Technion
Prof. Ronnie Ellenblum, Geography, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem
Prof. Zelig Eshhar, Immunology, Weizmann Institute of Science
Prof. Andrew Plaks, East Asian Studies, Tel Aviv University & The Hebrew University of Jerusalem
Prof. Yaakov Kaduri, Bible, Bar Ilan University
 
The six new members are outstanding scientists and scholars who have demonstrated excellence in their research fields and have contributed to society in the public arena.
 
Prof. Nili Cohen, President of the Israel Academy, welcomed the newly elected members. She emphasized that their inclusion will strengthen the Israel Academy, as they assist the Academy in promoting its goals and further developing Israel’s extensive scientific and scholarly activity.
 
The new members will be inducted at an official ceremony to take place on the 8th night of Chanukah, December 19, 2017, at the annual Open Meeting of the General Assembly at the Academy in Jerusalem.
