Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists in Israel Celebrates Laureates in Ceremony and Symposium

In August, the prestigious Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists in Israel were conferred to the 2020 and 2021 Laureates at a formal ceremony in Jerusalem. The ceremony took place at the Israel Museum, with the participation of the President of the State of Israel, Mr. Isaac Herzog, president of the New York Academy of Sciences, Prof. Nicholas Dirks, and president of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, Prof. Nili Cohen.
 
The following day, the Laureates shared highlights from their research in The Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists in Israel Symposium: “The Science of Tomorrow”, which was held at the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, and online. At the symposium, they were joined by former laureates, Israel Academy members, colleagues, students and members of the public.
 
The 2021 Laureates, are Prof. Ido Kaminer of The Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (Physical Sciences & Engineering), Prof. Rafal Klajn of the Weizmann Institute of Science (Chemistry), and Prof. Yossi Yovel of Tel Aviv University (Life Sciences).
 
The 2020 Laureates are Prof. Guy Rothblum, of the Weizmann Institute of Science (Physical Sciences & Engineering), Prof. Emmanuel Levy, Weizmann Institute of Science (Chemistry), and Prof. Igor Ulitsky of the Weizmann Institute of Science (Life Sciences).
 
The Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists in Israel recognize the country’s most promising faculty-rank researchers in Life Sciences, Physical Sciences & Engineering, and Chemistry. One Blavatnik Laureate in each disciplinary category is chosen to receive US$100,000 in unrestricted funds each year. The Blavatnik Awards are supported by the Blavatnik Family Foundation and co-administered by the New York Academy of Sciences and The Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
