Rewriting the Book of Life: Ethical, Social, and Regulatory Aspects of Gene Editing
The Israeli Academy of Sciences and
Humanities Bioethics Advisory Committee, in collaboration with the Open
University, invites the public to a conference on the ethical, social, and
regulatory aspects of gene editing. The conference will be held on
Wednesday, May 15, 2019 (10 Iyar 5779), from 10:00 to 19:00, at the Academy in
Jerusalem. Topics will include the rapid development of elaborate tools for
gene editing (such as the CRISPR-CAS9
system), gene editing in reproductive cells, the legal status of gene editing
in Israel, gene editing in animals, “DIY” gene editing (biohacking / gene
hacking) and the foundational discourse for the ethical discussion of gene
editing. There will also be a roundtable discussion with audience

The Israeli Academy of Sciences and
Humanities Bioethics Advisory Committee is pleased to announce the launch of its
Arabic website. The Committee’s website deals with bioethical issues relating
to scientific developments, developments in biomedicine and biotechnology, and
