The Israeli Academy of Sciences and Humanities Bioethics Advisory Committee, in collaboration with the Open University, invites the public to a conference on the ethical, social, and regulatory aspects of gene editing. The conference will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 (10 Iyar 5779), from 10:00 to 19:00, at the Academy in Jerusalem. Topics will include the rapid development of elaborate tools for gene editing (such as the CRISPR-CAS9 system), gene editing in reproductive cells, the legal status of gene editing in Israel, gene editing in animals, “DIY” gene editing (biohacking / gene hacking) and the foundational discourse for the ethical discussion of gene editing.
