On October 30th, the leadership of the scientific community in Israel issued an urgent joint call for action to heads of the international academic and scientific community. The letter, signed by the heads of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, the Planning and Budgeting Committee of Israel’s Council for Higher Education, and the Israel Science Foundation, titled “Israel’s Gravest Crisis”, emphasizes the critical importance of immediate and concentrated efforts to address protests in support of Hamas taking place on academic campuses worldwide and to safeguard the well-being of Israeli and Jewish students and faculty. The letter was sent to Presidents of fellow science academies abroad and heads of international science organizations.
