A systematic documentary history of the Jews of Lombardy. The records reflect the contacts between the local community and groups of Jewish exiles from France, Germany, Spain and the East, as well as between Jews and non-Jews. The documents are assembled from non-Jewish archives that hitherto had rarely been utilized for this purpose. The documents are accompanied by English summaries.
