Professor Margalit Finkelberg, Vice President of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, represented the Academy at the inaugural meeting of the International Community (Koinon) of Academies, held on 9–10 February 2026 in Athens and hosted by the Academy of Athens. The Israel Academy was invited to join the new community as a founding member, and accordingly took part in the opening gathering.
The symposium, held in the neoclassical building of the Academy of Athens, featured a series of lectures and academic sessions covering a broad range of topics - from artificial intelligence and climate change to archaeology and the history of science - as well as inter-academy working meetings.
The Academy's membership in Koinon represents a further step in strengthening its standing in the international scientific arena and deepening cooperation with fellow academies worldwide.
