The President of the Australian Academy of Science, Professor Samuel (Sam) Berkovic, visited the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities shortly after assuming office in May 2026.

During his visit, he held a meeting with Professor David Harel, President of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, attended by Ms Esther Sivan, Director General of the Academy, and Ms Liat Mandelbaum Shor, Head of International Relations. The meeting was conducted in an open and constructive spirit.

The discussion focused on the importance of renewing and strengthening ties between the two academies, and on exploring avenues for institutional cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Both presidents expressed their intention to promote ongoing dialogue and develop joint initiatives between the academies.
