Moses Isserles (1530–1572), thinker and rabbinical authority, occupies a distinguished place in the history of the Halakhah. This book is concerned with analyzing and integrating his philosophical ideas. Its four sections are devoted, respectively, to the foundations of Isserles" philosophical system; his theology and metaphysics; his social doctrine and understanding of history; and his conceptualization of the religious essence of the individual and of society.
