Submission guidelines

Instructions for submitting manuscripts to the Publications Department
The Publications Department of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities may publish monographs and scholarly works submitted to it in any realm of knowledge, which have been deemed by the Academy’s Publications Committee to accord with its publications policy and to meet its scholarly standards, as well as collective volumes and brochures containing lectures given in the framework of the Academy’s scholarly activities.

To submit a work for publication, please send it by email, with a cover letter, to Tali Amir, Director of the Publications Department, at tali@academy.ac.il.

The submission will be forwarded to the Publications Committee, which, at its discretion, will consider the material on its own or send it to external evaluators with expertise in the field. The Committee may ask for revisions to the work.

Works that have been approved for publication by the Publications Committee will be transferred to the care of the Publications Department. Since the Academy publishes works in many scholarly fields, its standing style guidelines may be adapted to those current in the work’s particular field. The author/s will be asked to consult the Publications Department regarding the guidelines appropriate to their work and to prepare the work in accordance with the guidelines thus determined. Sample style guidelines may be accessed here.

The author/s will be asked to sign a publishing agreement with the Academy. Among other things, they will be asked to transfer the copyright in the work to the Academy and to declare that nothing in the work constitutes a contravention of the copyrights of others. If permissions are needed to reproduce materials from external sources, the author/s will be asked to obtain them in advance and deliver them to the Academy concurrently with the delivery of the work to the Publications Department.
The Publications Department will copy-edit the work and prepare it for press.
